Don't leave appliances on standby.

This often uses a similar amount of energy as when it is switched on, so make sure to turn it off at the wall when not in use.

Motion Sensitive Lighting

The lights are on but no ones in! You should only have the lights on when you need them. You can make sure that empty rooms aren't being lit all day with motion sensors built into your lighting system.

Money can easily be wasted, by leaving unused lighting on all day. Try to encourage your staff to make sure they only use lighting when it is needed.

Set your heating to the right temperature

Every business is different and as such, they should be heated accordingly.

For offices 19 degrees is suggested as the optimal temperature, considering employees are often sat at their desk for larger portions of the day.

For a workshop environment with a mix of duties 16-19 degrees is suitable temperature.

In areas where heavy work is carried out the temperature should be kept between 11-14 to counteract the heat of physical labour.

For shops and retail enviroments, it is suggested that a temperature of 10-12 degrees is maintained.
